White-Spotted Pufferfish

I don’t really know why I keep writing about animals, but I think because it’s easier than writing about people since there’s no real way to determine whether or not an animal is speaking or acting how it should since nobody really knows what goes through an animal's head.

I was watching this documentary about this old lady and she was adjusting her shoes on a rack and she reminded me of the white-spotted pufferfish, which is known for creating cool circles in the sand in order to try and attract a mate. We look at him and think like dang that guy is just so funny cause he does this to attract a mate… people are like why the hell is he doing that?

Yet when someone arranges flowers for someone it’s the same thing, or like why does it matter how you have your shoes, you’re going to know where they are if it’s messy. This old lady, and I mean almost every single person is no different from this fish.

I saw some instagram reel too, it was talking about like a group of historians finding a bunch of knives stored on the top shelf of the ancient building, claiming it was there for some sun god or something- until one of them, a mother, looked at it, and said it’s to prevent kids from playing with the sharp stuff- which just makes sense.

We look at our ancestors from a few thousand years ago as equal to those animals, yet they are pretty much identical physically and genetically. Maybe it’s just the way that I’ve always viewed these things, or just the people in my life, but every day I think higher and higher of animals, and I truly think the only reason we look at them as lesser is because we can’t talk to them.

I feel like if you could talk to the white-spotted pufferfish, and you asked him why he did all that, it would probably just be because he really liked that girl, and heck if the girl I really liked wanted a cool geometric pattern in the sand I’d do it too.
